904L Stainless Steel — The Premium Choice
Composition: 19–23% Chromium, 23–28% Nickel, 4–5% Molybdenum, plus higher copper content. Rolex switched to 904L in 1985 and branded it “Oystersteel”.

- Slightly softer than 316L — requires more craftsmanship to finish
